Book of Revelation was never meant to frighten Christians PDF Print E-mail

Got your Bible handy?  No?  Well, go get it, I'll wait.........Do you have it now?   Good!   Turn to Revelation chapter 22, verse 20.   Note the Apostle John's comment when Jesus says, "Yes. I am coming soon."  John writes, with passion: “Amen. Come, Lord Jesus."

Isn't that wonderful?  John has been so caught up in the message of the Book of Revelation that he can't wait for Christ's return.

That is in stark contrast to the way many Christians respond to the Book of Revelation.   They are confused and terrified by the trumpets, bowls of wrath, Armageddon and other events.

   That's unfortunate.
You see, the Book of Revelation was never meant to frighten Christians... the unbelieving world, yes....but not Christians.   The message to us is that, at the end of all things, God triumphs.   And since we are members of His family, we will triumph, too.

Try this little exercise.  Read this passage from Revelation 21:1-4

1Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea.
2I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband.
3And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God.
4He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."

How can you read that and NOT get excited?   That's YOUR eternal home that is being written about there!   What a relief to know that this world, with all of its pain and problems, is not our only home.   With Heaven in our future, let's say along with John:   Amen!  Come, Lord Jesus!

See you soon!
