Ladies April 2011 article & calendar dates PDF Print E-mail

Spring has sprung!  Isn’t it beautiful?  April showers bring May flowers.  God’s beautiful blessings surround us everywhere you look and Easter is right around the corner.  As women, we examine our roles around the holidays to see what we need to do, what plans to make, what the holiday menu should be.  Pretty typical: business as usual.  But, you know, women played a pretty prominent role in the Easter story.

* When the boulder in front of Jesus’ tomb was rolled away, it was women who found it.  Luke 24:1-2
* When Jesus’ body was not wrapped in the linens, it was women who discovered it. Luke 24:3
* When Jesus first announced his resurrection, it was women who heard it.
* And when the apostles first heard he had risen, it was women who told them.  Luke 24:9-10

How exciting is that!  So now when you roll that big Easter ham out to dinner, remember our sisters before us and the role THEY played in witnessing the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.  HE IS RISEN!

Well, I was just recently reminded that it is time once again for the Ladies article.  I have absolutely no ideas in which to write about.   So I will take this time to give a few shout outs.  First and foremost thanks to our Lord, Jesus Christ for His forgiveness and His many blessings.  To our minister Bill, for his uplifting messages every week.  To the Elders and Deacons, for working with the Ladies to plan fellowship activities, and the countless other works they do around the church.  To all of you who attend the fellowship activities.  The Ladies enjoy planning these activities and it is a great thrill to see everyone having such a good time and enjoying these activities which are all done to glorify our Lord. Try to come to one this year.  You will be blessed!

December Ladies Fellowship PDF Print E-mail

“It’s OK to say the word Christmas”.  I saw this on a sign at a public school building.  God bless the person who put that up.  I’m sure someone will complain and it will have to be taken down, but for now, the guy who put it up is cheering for his team.  We live in a country where we can cheer for our favorite sports teams, wear their logos, fly their flags, for lots of different teams.  And it’s OK.  If someone says something, we just say “I don’t cheer for that team; my favorite team is the Buckeyes”.  No one takes us to court and sues us because they don’t believe in that team.  Schools do not ban the O-H…I-O because other students are from Michigan and are in great distress.  So why, oh why do Christians have to put their beliefs on the back burner when it comes to public opinion.  Last year someone said Happy Hanukkah to me, I smiled and politely said Merry Christmas, and I received a smile back.  So if someone has no beliefs and someone says Merry Christmas to them, why can’t they just say “That’s not my team” and let me express my constitutional freedom.  So don’t say Happy Holidays, say Merry Christmas, “It’s OK to say the word Christmas”.

From the Ladies Fellowship, we wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year!

HOW TO OBSERVE THANKSGIVING

Count your blessings instead of your crosses;
Count your gains instead of your losses.
Count your joys instead of your woes;
Count your friends instead of your foes.
Count your smiles instead of your tears;
Count your courage instead of your fears.
Count your full years instead of your lean;
Count your kind deeds instead of your mean.
Count your health instead of your wealth;
Count on God instead of yourself.

Likes PDF Print E-mail

I was on Facebook catching up on unread posts.  Have you ever noticed all the “Likes” that people have.  I don’t know about you but that fills up half of my wall every day.  They’re fun to read and some are really funny.  Then there are the “spiritual” ones.  Remember what I wrote about spiritual a while back?  Some say “If you have ever experienced a Miracle, press Like”, “if you believe in God, press Like”…..you know where I’m going, you’ve seen them.  I think that’s great.  People professing their faith on a national social website.  But, then there are some people who I raise my eyebrows to.  I think to myself “really? It doesn’t show in their life”.  I think there should be a “Live” button to press.  Are we living our life to show that we still believe in miracles?  Are we living our life to really show that we believe in God?  Maybe there is something more that we could be doing.  Be different, stand out, and show others what it truly means to live a life filled with Christ.  Push the “Live” button!!
