Greetings!
Spring is upon us once again. It has been my dream for several years to plant a small orchard alongside the creek bed to honor those members of Rose Hill who have gone onto their heavenly reward. A small grove of apple, peach, and pear et al trees will honor those who “bore good fruit” during their earthly journey.

Greetings!
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome Rose Hill Church of Christ’s newest Deacons: Robert Shoecraft and John Moore. It’s been more than a year since I last had the privilege of working with other Deacons on church projects. I am very excited about future labors of love around the church grounds with these two gentlemen. Each brings an area of expertise I am looking forward to learning.

I’m excited!! There will be two more Deacons at Rose Hill come next week (providing the congregation confirms their desire to serve). I’ve been a solo act for a while and to tell the truth it’s been exhausting. Now, there will be those who will think: exhausted? What did he do that was so exhausting? I’m not going to answer that because if I do, it will draw attention to me, myself, and I and I DO NOT want to do that. It is an unfortunate condition of people that they do not always see the ‘small’ things that people do in an organization. That is what Deacons do; they do small but very important things. If I answered what I did to become exhausted, it would sound like, “Look at me. Look at the things I do.” Jesus told his followers to pray while in their closet so as not to be seen by men. As a Deacon, I am called not to be seen by men. I am called to serve in obscurity. However, it will be nice to be obscure with two new servants.
Peace

Time is an amazing concept. Fundamentally speaking it has to do with the oscillation of an element called cesium. So many oscillations of the cesium atom equal a second of time. From seconds come minutes; from minutes come hours; from hours come days; from days come weeks, then months, then years and it goes on. When you are young, time is fluid and unrestrained. As you get older it becomes more dense and constrained. At age 50 I am becoming more and more cognizant of time with its provisions and restrictions. I am just now beginning to really appreciate how valuable it is and how at any given moment it can be taken away without notice. God’s word says to live each day as it comes because tomorrow is not a guarantee. Tell your family you love them. Tell your brothers and sisters in Christ how much they mean to you. Hug a friend. And if I could suggest something…. make time to watch a sunrise with someone you love very much. It’s amazing.
Peace
